Of Cuban and Ecuadorian descent, Michelle strives for authenticity, drawing from her Latinx experience and achieves a nuanced representation in her storytelling. Her filmmaking style is highly cinematic, influenced by auteurs like Kieslowski and Iñarritu. Michelle graduated from Columbia University in NY with a B.A. in film studies. She was immediately hired by Miramax Films and became a Creative Advertising executive. She produced theatrical trailers for over 30 films including Academy Award winner “Chicago” and Scorsese’s “Gangs of New York”. For over a decade, she was a senior editor on over fifty episodes of TV for Bravo, TLC, VH1, MTV and Univision.

In 2022, Michelle directed the multimillion dollar action feature film, "Switch & Bait" shot on location in Belgrade, Serbia. Starring Otmara Marrero ("Start-Up") and Katie Clarkson Hill (“Hanna”) the film is about a strong-willed detective who must drive a key witness back to Detroit and protect her from the drug lord who wants her dead. Michelle also wrote and directed the micro budget feature "Woman of the House", a female-centric dramedy about a novelist trying to enjoy her midlife crisis despite her judgmental friends. A semi-finalist at Academy-qualifying Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, “Woman of the House” won the audience choice award at the Mystic Film Festival, and two jury awards: “Best Actress” at NY Cinefest and “Best Ensemble Cast” at the Silver State Film Fest.

Being born in the United States while growing up in a diverse community immersed in the Latin American diaspora gives Michelle a unique perspective. It’s this straddling of two cultures, speaking two languages equally fluently, that gives her the tools to represent a diverse world authentically while discovering universal themes that keep the audience engaged. Her work features a diverse cast and often tackles social issues facing women in male dominated environments. By creating compelling, character- driven work in TV and Film, Michelle hopes to inspire future generations of filmmakers to express their unique visions.
